Application for Educational Benefits Information

The 2023-2024 school year is the first year of the Minnesota Free School Meals Program. All students can get one breakfast and one lunch free of charge each day at school. Although no application is required to receive this free meal benefit, filling out the Application for Educational Benefits is still important! Your child(ren) may qualify for other benefits like reduced fees at school. Your application may also help the school qualify for education funds, discounts, and other meal programs.

Each School District in MN has their OWN Application for Educational Benefits. Also, each School District sends out their OWN letters regarding approval of Educational Benefits applications. PLEASE contact your school district for an application if you did not already complete one for 2023-2024 or to find out if your family was approved for Educational Benefits.

Who should complete this application?

Children in households participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), and foster, homeless, migrant and runaway children qualify without reporting household income. Alternatively, children can qualify if their household income is within the maximum income shown for their household size on the instructions.

How long will funds be available?

Funds are given on a first-come basis, with preference given to first-time Scrubs Campers. Students are encouraged to apply for a scholarship as early as possible. Scholarships are awarded until all funds have been disbursed.

What is the Camp Scholarship Application Process?

1. Visit our registration page.  Find the camp you would like to attend and click "Scholarship Application".

2. Complete the online registration for the camp you would like to attend.

3. Your confirmation email will include the required Next Steps you must complete to be considered for a scholarship,

4. Student information is received, and selection process begins.

5. Students are notified if they have been awarded a scholarship to attend camp.

What is the scholarship deadline date?

Scholarships are allocated based on first come basis for those who have demonstrated a financial need. The earlier the student has completed the online registration and returns the required documents listed in the confirmation of registration email, the greater chance the student has to receive funding.

The preferred deadline for camp registration AND scholarship online forms is April 15th. The final deadline to apply for scholarships has not been set for 2024.

How will the student know if they are approved?

Once Scrubs Camp receives applications and the review process is completed, students will be notified if a scholarship can be awarded. A student must contact Scrubs Camp as soon as possible if the student decides to NOT attend the camp, so scholarship funds can be awarded to another camper.

If you are interested in donating funds for student scholarships, you may donate online or contact us for more information.

Don’t be shy! Over 50% of Scrubs campers received funding or scholarship assistance to attend camp in 2023.
