K-12 Vision for Youth

Project: 10 K12-02
Title: Mobile Science Lab Program
Description: Southeast Services Cooperative, Mayo Clinic and Rochester Area Math Science Partnership
This project is a proposed expansion of the Mobile Science Lab Program to complement and support the Mayo Clinic Educator Academics and to meet a documented need in Southeast Services Cooperative member school districts. The intent is to fund the development and deployment of a second Mobile Science Lab for high school science teachers.

Title: High School Health Careers
Description: Achieve! Minneapolis (Roosevelt High School), Minneapolis Public Schools, Minneapolis Community & Technical College
The goal is to increase the number of Roosevelt High School students certified as nursing assistants in order to meet requirements for students entering nursing programs and improve the ability of students in post-secondary environments to improve their financial independence.

Title: Working to Assure a Skilled & Diverse Healthcare Workforce
Description: Workforce Development Inc.
Its goal is to increase retention of diverse, entry-level healthcare workers. The project is patterned after the successful mentoring project between Northland College and the White Earth Reservation. Funding also will be used to refine Workforce Development’s existing Academy model.

Title: Physical Therapist Assistant Degree Pathway for Military-Trained Personnel (Bridge Program)
Description: Lake Superior College, AM Physical Therapy Association
Lake Superior College intends to develop a pathway for those military-trained personnel to attain an AAS degree in physical therapy.

Title: Building A New Curriculum, STAT! (Simulation Throughout All Terms)
Description: Winona State University – Department of Nursing, Winona State University--Department of Health Exercise & Rehabilitation Services and Winona Health
Winona State University (WSU) is developing a new curriculum, STAT. The program is designed to integrate simulation experiences with the METI man adult simulator for WSU nursing students and Winona Health (WH) nurses on the Winona campus. Additionally, this team will collaborate with its partners to create a plan to make simulation experiences possible for them.

Title: An Innovative Model Advancing Baccalaureate Nursing Education in Minnesota
Description: Rochester Community and Technical College, Winona State University
The overall goal of the proposed project is to meet identified workforce needs by increasing baccalaureate prepared nurses by supporting a new model for the associate degree nursing program. This project will develop curriculum framework based on the Oregon Consortium of Nursing Education (OCNE) model. The intent of the project is to create a dual-admission nursing program between Rochester Community and Technical College and Winona State University.

Title: SOP – Standardizing Orientation Processes
Description: East Central Healthcare Alliance - Pine Technical College: various K-12 and higher education institutions, healthcare providers and workforce center system
Both students and clinical sites are over-burdened with the process of duplicating clinical site orientations. Standardizing orientation among providers will significantly decrease duplicative orientation hours and increase the hours students spend on mastering valuable nursing skills at the bedside.
