| HealthForce Minnesota and the K–12 Health Science Partnership held a Staff Development Day event in the summer of 2007 to increase healthcare career awareness. The event was held at Rochester School District’s state of the art Health Science Careers Center. |

Staff Development Day was held on May 30, 2007 at the Health Science Careers Center in Rochester, MN. K–12 teachers and administrators came to the event to learn more about promoting science and health careers in their schools. There were several presenters from Rochester Public Schools, including Bonnie Barnett and Christine Kuhn, who teach and organize programs at the Health Science Careers Center. Guy Finne, from Mayo Clinic, provided information about Mayo Clinic’s Health Career website.
Also at the event, resources were provided by Sonya McNamara (Healthcare Education Industry Partnership, HEIP). Tours of the Health Science Careers Center were provided to show how the Rochester School District is providing hands on training for various health careers. All of the attendees mentioned they enjoyed the workshop and stated, “[The event provided] lots of information to inspire teaching ideas,” and “[there were] very knowledgeable speakers.” The workshop was a success, and was enjoyed by everyone who participated.
